Champions to be feted at Eastwood Mall

They did it again.  The Champion High School softball team earned a place in the record books by winning the 2018 Ohio Division III Championship.  On June 2, the team defeated Cardington-Lincoln 9-4.  It’s the team’s fifth state title since 2011 and their second back-to-back title.  The staff, owners and managers of the Eastwood Mall Complex will honor this major accomplishment with a victory rally on Tuesday, June 26.  The event will take place at 3 PM in the mall’s Center Court.  Public officials will be on hand to congratulate the teams, along with friends and family.  In honor of the team’s accomplishments, the Cafaro Foundation will present a donation to the Champion Local Schools for use in the district’s athletic program.

The celebration will continue later that day at Eastwood Field, where the Mahoning Valley Scrappers will honor the team before taking on the Williamsport Crosscutters at 7:05 PM.
